NATIONAL DISASTER IT AND COMMUNICATIONS ACTION PLAN

To strengthen emergency communications and infrastructure, NITB is committed to form, rollout, and uphold National Disaster IT and Communications Action Plan.

Natural disasters occur unexpectedly as a result of unforeseen environmental or geographical changes which results in significant damage, loss, or destruction of property and data. In recent years, the impact of natural disasters in terms of data loss and information waste has increased in Pakistan due to its specific geographical location, global warming, climate change, and man-made disruptions. Natural hazards such as earthquakes, floods, landslides, drought, and epidemic diseases are affecting the economy of Pakistan drastically. To overcome such issues, the Government of Pakistan has established the National Disaster IT and Communications Action Plan to minimize the impact of natural disasters and provide a framework to avoid damages caused by natural disasters. The National Disaster Recovery Plan helps in the prevention, mitigation, preparedness, response, recovery, and rehabilitation of the Government Departments.

With exceptional IT and management skills, NITB facilitates the successful implementation of disaster recovery strategies by applying advanced IT techniques such as remote sensing, satellite communication, GIS, etc. NITB plays a significant role in the process by providing assistance in pre-disaster planning, monitoring, forecasting, and information management. In addition, NITB also provides training for Information technology and tools to incorporate the newest technologies for disaster communication and recovery.
