Pakistan’s ICT sector has enormous growth potential. The number of 3G/4G subscriptions in Pakistan are growing at a very fast pace. The existing base of over 30 million mobile broadband customers has unleashed a plethora of opportunities on the digital landscape of the country. The knock on effect on numerous sectors of economy is palpably visible. Digital commerce is on a boom. Online shopping and transactions are becoming the new normal. New venues of creative economy are also opening up. Tech start ups are alluring national and international venture capitalist to invest in this growing sector.
With all these positive indicators, we can say that our Government’s intense focus on enabling digital infrastructure have resulted increation of enough impetus for spurring the demand for a digital economy. That is the aim of our Ministry. We intend to broaden the reach of digital benefits all across the country. Our objective is to increase the awareness among masses to make the best use of these technological gains in their daily life transaction including e Education, e Health, e Business, e Knowledge, e Communication.
This manifests that knowledge economy is playing a pivotal role in the growth of Pakistan’s overall economy. We are endeavoring to increase the share of ICT in overall GDP growth. For that our focus is on stirring the demand side of ICT equation. Enabling the eco system through high level strategic interventions are the prime focus of our Ministry. We are nurturing innovation through a culture of entrepreneurship, a collaborative model with private sector and a central focus on human development of ICT sector.
