Mr. Shabahat Ali Shah

Mr. Shabahat Ali Shah is the Chief Executive Officer of National Information Technology Board under the Federal Government of Pakistan. To say the least, Mr Shah carries outstanding entrepreneurial instincts. His clarity of vision has brought a wealth of knowledge and expertise to the Ministry of IT & Telecom. He has been instrumental in restructuring the National IT Board into an autonomous body. He recently devised the charter & functions of the organization in line with digital transformation and eGovernance vision of Prime Minister of Pakistan. He comes from Silicon Valley, California after spending more than a decade incubating bleeding-edge technologies, launching 3-Successful Tech Startups and propelled them to become Technology Powerhouses. Mr Shah also has loads of corporate entrepreneurship experience under his belt. He started up appliances business at Oracle Communications group in Redwood Shores, California and introduced the first-ever Network Functions Virtualization platform to global communications service providers. Mr Shah is one of the pioneers in the world who introduced microsatellite technology to various industries where he generated $80M+ business for his startups. He worked across major geographies of EU, North America, APAC, Latin America & ASEAN and holds executive relationships with Fortune 500 enterprises globally. Mr Shah was one of the core team members of NADRA Data Warehouse in the early years of the organization. He was the chief architect of the CNIC process of NADRA that allocates a 13-Digit CNIC number to the Citizens of Pakistan. Being at NADRA, he was the pioneer in Federal Government who introduced a paperless workflow environment across the organization. Moreover, as Project Director of NICOP/POC system, he restructured NICOP/POC data entry & processing system and introduced rules of “Ease-of-doing-Business” for the citizens.

On the education side, Mr Shah completed his MBA degree from Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) with the Public Leadership & Corporate Strategy program from Harvard Business School & Harvard Kennedy School. He completed his undergraduate degree from UET Lahore in Electrical and Communications Engineering. Being an engineer, an entrepreneur and a corporate business executive he possesses supreme command on technology as well as good governance policies.
