The National Information Technology Board
In Pakistan, the public departments and the Ministries needs dedicated consultancy and technical guidance to productively fulfil their primary purposes. It is not in the interest of the government to have unproductive public departments. On 11th August 2014, Pakistan Computer Bureau (PCB) and Electronic Government Directorate (EGD) were merged to form The National Information Technology Board (NITB). Commissioned by the Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication (MoIT), The NITB aims to address the operational challenges of all government departments and Ministries. NITB specializes in key automation, design, development, and implementation of robust IT technologies to promote the e-governance culture in all public departments and holistically develop plans, technologies, and infrastructures to boost the performance of the public sector.OUR MISSION
There is a bigger mission behind NITB’s establishment. Our journey focuses on uplifting the quality, service delivery, data security, and accessibility of data and information to our clients. We aim to offer the vital resources and consultancy services to guide all the government departments and Ministries for promoting speedy operations. Our primary mission is to promote the wellbeing of Pakistani citizens around the globe by converting every Ministry into a digitally-empowered public organization. NITB’s mission is to provide access to the government departments with information on one click to become more effective in using digital technologies with adequate support.

Meet NITB’s CEO: Mr. Shabahat Ali Shah
The current Chief Executive Officer of the NITB is a well-known icon for technical and business decision-making.Mr. Shabahat Ali Shah is a highly dynamic leader and a technology expert with 20+ years of international experience in innovation management and information technology. With an extensive experience of working in North and South American leading technology organizations, Mr. Shabahat is an expert in building sustainable business strategies to transform organizations into digital powerhouses. Mr. Shah is a foreign qualified individual with vast knowledge and skills. He completed his (Master in Business Administration) MBA from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and attended the Harvard Business School and Harvard Kennedy School to complete the Public Leadership & Corporate Strategy program. Prior to this, he completed his Bachelor degree from the University of Engineering and Technology (UET), Lahore in electrical and communications engineering. He has also completed the Corporate Strategy and Public Leadership program from the Harvard University. Being an engineer, an entrepreneur, and a corporate business executive, Mr. Shah has mastery over cutting-edge technologies in addition to good governance practices. He spent more than a decade in the Silicon Valley, California incubating cutting- edge technologies. He successfully launched 3 successful tech startups and propelled them to become technology powerhouses. He contributed to Oracle Communications in Redwood Shores and introduced the first ever Network Functions Virtualization (NFV) platform. He is one of the pioneers of microsatellite technology and generated $80M+ business for the startups. He worked across major geographies of Europe, North America, Asia-Pacific, Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), and Latin America and developed executive relationships with Fortune 500 enterprises.NITB’s leader carries outstanding entrepreneurial instincts and promotes clarity of vision with a wealth of knowledge to the Ministry of IT & Telecom.
Mr. Shah’s remarkable achievements are hard to describe in words. He has been phenomenal in restructuring the National IT Board into an autonomous body. He recently devised the charter & functions of the organization in line with digital transformation to achieve e-Governance goals of the Prime Minister. Mr. Shah has also been the core team member of NADRA’s Data Warehouse in the early years and served as the chief architect of the CNIC process. In addition, he worked as the Project Director of NICOP/POC system and restructured the data entry system. Mr. Shabahat is also the Director of Board of Pakistan Telecommunications Company Limited (PTCL) and National Telecommunications Corporations (NTC).
