The National Information Technology Board (NITB) is a
pivotal government entity in Pakistan, granted autonomy on 16th of August 2022.
Previously operating as an attached department under the Ministry of Information Technology
and Telecommunication (MOITT), NITB was established in 2014 through the merger of the
Pakistan Computer Bureau (PCB) and the Electronic Government Directorate (EGD).
NITB boasts a robust portfolio, having successfully implemented over 500 digital
initiatives across various sectors, including Government-to-Business (G2B),
Government-to-Citizen (G2C), and Government-to-Government (G2G) services.
These initiatives have not only accelerated innovation and facilitated swift digital
transformation but have also significantly improved government efficiency and productivity.

Operating under the MoITT, NITB is tasked with offering innovative IT solutions to modernize government operations and enhance public service delivery.
NITB harnesses the latest technologies to assist public sector organizations in achieving e-governance for enhanced public service delivery. We also offer IT support to federal authorities thereby enhancing their accountability, performance, and transparency.
Mr. Faisal Iqbal Ratyal is a seasoned IT and telecom professional with over 20 years of leadership experience across government and top technology firms, offering a broad perspective on Pakistan’s digital transformation.
He holds an MSc in Cybernetics & Communication from Nottingham Trent University, UK, and a BCS (Hons) in Computer Science from Government College University, Lahore. His early education was completed at Army Public School & College, Murree.
Mr. Ratyal has led major national projects including Safe City initiatives, nationwide 3G/4G rollouts, CPEC Optical Fiber deployment, and automation of G2G and G2C services, leveraging his deep IT and telecom expertise to develop integrated, scalable, and citizen-centric infrastructure aligned with the Digital Nation Pakistan vision. In policymaking, he aligns technological progress with regulatory frameworks to foster innovation, sustainable growth, digital inclusion, and enhanced service delivery, while also driving foreign direct investment and technology exports to boost Pakistan’s economic growth and GDP.
As CEO of NITB, he continues to lead policy-driven initiatives that strengthen Pakistan’s digital
ecosystem and public services.
